Webhook URL is invalid
One of your webhooks has a URL we cannot send correctly, so its conversions are either not being sent or are being sent with a value missing.
What it means
Webhook URLs can contain placeholders such as ${clickId} or ${eventValue}, which Routy fills in for each conversion. This issue means something in the URL itself is wrong. It is not a problem with the server the URL points to.
The message tells you which of two cases you are in:
- "Postbacks from webhook ... are not being sent." We could not turn the URL into a web address, so nothing was sent for these conversions.
- "Postbacks from webhook ... are missing a value." The URL has a placeholder that is not one we know. The conversion is still sent, but that placeholder arrives empty.
The message names the webhook and the placeholder at fault.
Why it happens
- A placeholder is not a single name. A dot or a space inside
${...}, for example${MainAtt. ClientUserAgent}or${pageViews.location}. Write the name on its own, such as${clientUserAgent}. Conversions are not sent until this is fixed. - A placeholder is misspelt or does not exist, for example
${clickid_}or${payout}. The conversion is sent with that value empty. - The URL does not start as a web address once filled in, for example it is missing
https://, or the whole URL is a placeholder.
What you can do
- Open the issue and note the webhook name and the placeholder it mentions.
- Open that webhook under Tracking → Webhooks, or on the traffic source's Webhooks tab, and choose Edit.
- Correct the placeholder. Type
$in the URL field to pick from the list of valid names. The full list is in Webhook URL placeholders. - Save, then use Simulate to send a test and check it arrives with every value filled.
Conversions that could not be sent in the meantime are retried automatically for up to 10 days, using the corrected URL. Values that were sent empty are not resent.
When it clears
It closes 24 hours after the last conversion that hit the problem. Because it is only checked when a conversion is sent, a webhook that gets no conversions also closes after 24 hours, even if the URL is still wrong. Check the URL rather than relying on the issue closing. A conversion that hits the problem again opens it again.
