Postback value not readable

A network's postback reached us and matched its click, but the value of one of its events isn't a number, so that event was not counted.

What it means

A postback says which click it belongs to and what happened, with an amount or a count: cpacommission=12.50 or signups=1. We can only count a number.

This postback named an event we know, but its value wasn't a number. The issue names the network, the account, the parameter and what we received.

If the same postback carried another event with a readable value, that event was still counted. Only the unreadable one was lost.

Why it happens

  • The network didn't fill in a placeholder. cpacommission={amount} means the network sent its template as written, instead of the real amount. This is the most common cause. Usually the placeholder's name is wrong for that network, or the network has no value for it on that event.
  • The parameter carries the wrong field. firsttimedeposits=DP25506093 is a player or transaction ID where we expect a number.
  • The value is empty. signups= has nothing to count.

What you can do

  1. Open the issue and note the network, the account, the parameter and the value we received.
  2. Sign in to that network and open the postback settings for that account.
  3. Correct the value:
    • For a value in curly braces, check the placeholder's name against the network's documentation. Ask your affiliate manager there if it isn't listed.
    • For anything else, send the amount or count in that parameter. For a first-time deposit, that is firsttimedeposits=1.
  4. Save. The next postback is counted.

Postbacks already sent are not counted, even after the fix, because the real value never reached us. If you need those conversions, ask the network to resend them. If the account also has an account integration, its reports may still bring them in.

When it clears

It closes by itself 3 days after the last postback with an unreadable value for that parameter. You can also press Resolve once you have corrected it. If another postback arrives with an unreadable value, it opens again.
