Routy

A plan limit is filling up

This issue tells you that one of the limits on your plan is close to full, or already over. The message names the limit, how much you have used, and whether anything is actually being refused.

What it means

Every plan has limits: how many accounts, traffic sources or custom domains you can have, and how many events (clicks, postbacks, page views and so on) you can record each billing period. Routy warns you when one of them passes about 70%, and warns again as it keeps climbing.

What happens when a limit fills depends on the limit, and the message says which case you are in:

  • "New events are rejected and that traffic is not recorded." This limit is enforced. Once it is used up, those events are lost. This is the urgent case.
  • "No more can be created until the limit is raised." You cannot add more of that thing (for example another account) until you free one up or change plan. Nothing you already have stops working.
  • "Nothing is being blocked" / "traffic is still being recorded in full." The limit is not enforced on your account. You are over your plan's allowance, but no data is lost.

You may also get a version of this notification saying that some of your resources were suspended to bring you back within your plan. That means the limit was over and Routy disabled the items above your limit. You can turn them back on once you have room.

Why it happens

  • Your traffic or activity has grown past what your plan includes.
  • You are on a plan with low limits, such as Free, and are starting to use Routy for real traffic.
  • You recently moved to a smaller plan, or your paid plan ended, and your usage is above the new limits.
  • If the message says your account has more than one active subscription, the limit shown may come from the wrong plan. Contact support before acting on the number.

What you can do

  1. Open Plans & Billing from your profile menu and go to Resource Usage to see every limit and how much of each you have used. See Plans & Billing.
  2. If the message says events are being rejected, act today: move to a plan with a higher allowance on the Plans tab. Event allowances reset at the start of each billing period.
  3. For a count limit (accounts, traffic sources, domains, link monitors), remove or disconnect items you no longer use, or upgrade. Archiving an item does not free a slot.
  4. If you cannot open Plans & Billing, ask your account's Owner or Billing contact. See Plans & Billing access.

When it clears

This issue does not close when your usage drops. It closes by itself one day after the last warning for that limit. A new warning is sent only when usage climbs further: in steps of about 5% below your limit, and in much larger steps once you are past it.
