Subscription payment failed
Our payment provider tried to charge you for your Routy plan and the payment did not go through. Your plan is at risk until a payment succeeds.
What it means
The charge for your current plan was declined. Nothing was taken from your card for that attempt. The failed attempt is listed under Billing → Invoice History with the status Failed. Our payment provider will usually try again, but if payments keep failing your paid plan can end.
Why it happens
Most common first:
- The card on file has expired.
- Your bank declined the charge, for example for insufficient funds, a spending limit, or a fraud check on a recurring payment.
- The card was cancelled or replaced, and the new card was never added.
What you can do
- Open Plans & Billing from your profile menu and go to the Billing tab.
- Under Payment Method, click Change card and enter a card that works. Future charges, including the retry, go to the new card. See Plans & Billing.
- If the card looks fine, ask your bank why the charge was declined.
- Only the account Owner and Billing contact can open Plans & Billing. If that is not you, forward this to them. See Plans & Billing access.
When it clears
Automatically, the moment a payment for your plan succeeds. If no payment succeeds and no further payment fails, the issue also closes by itself 30 days after the last failed attempt. That does not mean the payment was settled, so check Billing if you are unsure.
