Clicks Blocked: Traffic Source Closed

Real visitors are clicking one of your links, but the clicks are being turned away because the link points to a traffic source you closed.

What it means

Your tracking links can name the traffic source they belong to. When a click arrives on a link whose traffic source is Closed, Routy does not redirect it. The visitor gets an error page instead of the offer, and the click is not recorded, so you will not find it in your clicks log.

This issue is raised once for your whole account, not once per link. The message names the first link we saw. Other links on closed traffic sources may be affected too.

Why it happens

  • You closed a traffic source that still has live links. A link published on a website, in an ad or in an email keeps working only while its traffic source is open.
  • An old campaign is still sending traffic. A newsletter, an old post or a paused ad set is still being clicked after you closed its source.

What you can do

  1. Open the issue's details. They show the blocked URL, the page the click came from, the referrer, and your pa / pb values. Use them to find where the link is published.
  2. Open Traffic sources and filter by Closed to find the source.
  3. Choose one:
    • If the source is still in use, set it back to Enabled.
    • If it is really finished, replace the link at the place where it is published with a link from an open traffic source.

When it clears

On its own, 3 days after the last blocked click. Fixing the cause does not close it at that moment, so you can press Resolve once you have fixed it. If clicks are still being blocked, it opens again with the next one. A burst of blocked clicks is reported at most once an hour, and search engine crawlers never trigger it.
