Connect an app
This page opens when you add Routy to Claude (web, desktop, mobile or Claude Code) or ChatGPT as a connector. The app sends you here to ask for access to your Routy account, and you decide what it gets.
Once connected, the app can read the reports you can see in Report Builder, for the affiliates you choose, one affiliate at a time.
The happy path
- In Claude or ChatGPT, add Routy as a connector (
https://mcp.routy.app/mcp). - Your browser opens Routy. If you're not signed in, sign in as usual; you come straight back to this page afterwards.
- Check who is asking and where access will be sent (for example
claude.ai). - Untick any permissions you don't want to give.
- Choose the affiliates, if the page asks.
- Click Allow. You're sent back to the app, connected.
Click Cancel instead and you're sent back to the app without access. Routy never connects an app without you clicking Allow, even one you've connected before.
Where access will be sent
The page always shows the address the app will receive access at, such as
claude.ai or chatgpt.com. If it isn't the app you just started from, click
Cancel.
If access goes to a program on this computer (Claude Code, for example), the page warns you. That's expected when you started from a program on your own computer. If you didn't, click Cancel.
Permissions
The list is exactly what the app asked for, already ticked.
- You can untick any of them. The app gets only what stays ticked.
- You can't add permissions the app didn't ask for.
- A permission you don't hold yourself is shown greyed out, marked "You don't have this permission". The app can't get it from you.
- Admin permissions are never offered here, so an app can't get admin access through this page.
If you don't hold any of the permissions the app asked for, Allow is disabled and Cancel is the only option. Ask whoever manages your Routy access if you think you should have them.
Affiliates
If you can reach more than one affiliate, choose which ones the app may work on. Leave the box empty and it works on all your affiliates, including ones you get access to later. If you have only one affiliate, the choice is made for you and the box isn't shown.
After you allow
The connection appears in your account menu → MCP & Access Tokens as "Claude (connected 2026-10-24)" (or ChatGPT), with connected app as how it was created. Revoke it there to disconnect the app; it stops working within about 30 seconds. See Connected apps in the MCP & Access Tokens help.
Common questions
"This link has expired." The link works once, for 10 minutes, and only for the first person who opens it. It also shows this if you were signed in as someone else, or if connecting apps isn't switched on for your account yet. Start the connection again from Claude or ChatGPT.
"You have 20 active tokens." Each connected app uses one of your 20 active tokens. Open MCP & Access Tokens from the link on the page (it opens in a new tab), revoke one you no longer use, then come back and click Allow again. If more than 10 minutes have passed, start again from the app.
"Too many attempts." Wait a moment and try again.
"Routy doesn't support this app yet." Routy connects to Claude and ChatGPT. Other apps can't use this page yet.
"We couldn't verify this app" / "This app's return address isn't allowed." The request from the app was broken or didn't match what the app has registered, so Routy refused it without sending anything back. Start the connection again from the app. If it keeps happening, contact support with the app's name and the time.
When to escalate
Contact support if an app you connected doesn't appear in MCP & Access Tokens, if revoking a connection doesn't disconnect the app after a minute, or if you see the "couldn't verify" error repeatedly from Claude or ChatGPT themselves.
