Link Blocked

The site behind one of your monitored links refused our check. This usually means the site's bot protection stopped an automated visit. It does not necessarily mean the link is broken for real visitors.

What it means

A link monitor visits your link on a schedule, the way a browser would. This time the site turned the visit away: it answered "access denied", "unauthorized" or "too many requests", or showed a "checking your browser" challenge page instead of the real page.

The issue is filed against the link. Several monitors on the same link share one issue.

Why it happens

  • Bot protection on the partner's site. Services like Cloudflare often challenge automated visits. This is the most common cause, and real visitors usually get through.
  • The site limits visits from one address. "Too many requests" means the site is throttling us. Checking several countries of the same link can make this more likely.
  • The page is restricted in that country. Some sites deny access by location. Then real visitors from that country are blocked too.

What you can do

  1. Open the link yourself from the same country as the failing monitor. The country is shown in Link monitors.
  2. If the page loads normally for you, the link is fine. There is nothing to fix. Pause the monitor if you do not want to keep hearing about it.
  3. If the page is blocked for you too, the partner is restricting that market or that page. Ask the partner, and replace the link in Routy Links if the page is no longer meant for that country.
  4. If the site blocks our checks on every country and you rely on that monitor, contact support with the monitor name and country.

When it clears

Automatically, as soon as any monitor on that link gets through to the page. While the site keeps refusing us, the issue stays open, because we keep seeing the block about every 15 minutes. If you pause or delete the monitor, it closes on its own 6 hours later. Pressing Resolve while the site still blocks us only lasts until the next check.
