Introduction

Being able to see how much revenue you’re generating and from which brands it’s coming from is great, but after that come the next set of questions. Which brands and markets are delivering the highest value? Where is my revenue actually coming from? What’s the value of my current traffic? To answer these questions, affiliates need player level data – a total game changer for affiliates, and a way to truly optimize their business.

The Challenge

Player level data is the holy grail of data for affiliates. Unfortunately, extracting this data is not straightforward and not commonly provided by affiliate programs, making it tricky for affiliates to get deeper insights.

The Solution

Routy’s Player Dashboard is designed to help affiliates understand their conversion data (i.e. their player pool) better. There are three key sections in this dashboard to help affiliates answer the questions listed in the Introduction:

1. Brand, Market and Traffic Source Breakdown

For affiliates, being able to see their conversions and player value by brand, market and traffic source is a great way for them to deep dive into their data and find the brands and markets delivering the highest value players.

2. Cohort View

One of the most valuable and sought-after aspects of viewing player data is being able to split player’s deposits, net revenue and total commission into their click month. This allows the affiliate to better understand the activity behind any one brand, account or even their entire business.

3. Top Player View

The final section of the dashboard shows a list of the top 100 players generating activity. This way the affiliate can see if activity is being driven by just one player or more, as well as tracking the activity of any VIPs. Clicking on the player’s click ID will take them to a detailed data view, showing all activity of the player, as well as any associated data.

Setup

Typical Scenarios

Scenario #1: I want to work with the brands that are giving me the best value players

Solution: Use the Traffic Source, Brand and Market breakdown on the Player Dashboard to explore the player value by brand. Deposits and Net Revenue are typically made available, depending on the affiliate program. In this view you can use cross filtering to find the best value markets and traffic source for each brand. In addition, you can use cross filtering to find which players are generating your Deposits, and/or Net Revenue and/or Total Commission. This will indicate to you if your revenue and value is being driven by just one player.

Note: You might need to wait for some time until that data becomes significant, depending on the volume of traffic and conversions you are seeing.

Scenario #2: I have no idea what the value of the current traffic I’m sending is, so I don’t know if I’m on the right track or my efforts are wasted

Solution: The Player Dashboard contains a Click Month breakdown. This means that it will show you your Deposits, Net Revenue and Total Commission broken down by the ‘Click Month’ (i.e. cohort/acquisition month). This illustrates to you which cohorts your activity on the specific period is coming from. This can be helpful even at a brand level, as it shows you if current traffic you’re sending to the brand is generating value, or it is generated by historic players – meaning you would be better off promoting another brand.

Scenario #3: I don’t know if I’m on the right deal with an affiliate program

Solution: For such a deep analysis, using Routy’s API* would be recommended. However, you can use a combination of the Account Filter, Brand Breakdown table, Cohort Breakdown and the Top Player Breakdown to see the average player value, number of players being driven, as well as the retention of each brand to see if it’s worth being on a revshare or CPA deal.
